For something without much biological purpose, hymens sure are talked about a lot—whether in health class or Law and Order: SVU. And sadly, there’s still plenty of misinformation being spread. As this video explains, hymens are a stretchy membrane that surrounds part of the vagina. It’s not a barrier or a virginity detector—after all, virginity is a social construction.
