Amazon’s Tricked-Out New Offices Remind Us There’s an Easy Way to Be Happier at Work

Amazon is building an enormous greenhouse—three huge glass spheres filled with trees and plants—for workers to use at its downtown Seattle office. This may seem like just another over-the-top perk (think: arcades, nap rooms, and ball pits) only available in the start-up world. And you're probably right. But that doesn't mean you can't reap the same benefits of spending time in the sun, surrounded by green things, in the middle of your workday.

Studies have shown employees who work in offices with lots of natural light tend to be more active, sleep better, and make healthier decisions. Spending time around plants also lowers workers’ stress levels. While most of us can't hold meetings in next-level greenhouses, we can use our lunch breaks to go outside, get some natural light, and see some trees. It will do wonders for your health and happiness at work.
