GreatistYou Day 16: Regina Reminds Us to Stay Strong

Welcome to GreatistYou, a new social experiment where we see what happens when five people decide to change their health—and broadcast their journeys for everyone to see. Four goals, five contestants, and six weeks to crush said goals for the promise of a better life (oh, and $1,000!).

We’ve hit a crucial point in the GreatistYou challenge, people. Two weeks in and the shiny excitement of a new adventure has worn off. This is the point when change becomes uncomfortable and our contestants are being tested.

Regina (@greatistregina) has been extremely focused on her goal to cut weight and compete as a Muay Thai fighter. But even she struggles with self-doubt and wonders if she can actually do it.

But rather than giving into her fears, Regina is out to prove herself wrong. She found some zen on a yoga mat (with the help of Grokker's yoga videos), compiled a few encouraging quotes, and refocused on everything she has accomplished thus far.

Meanwhile...

  • After a small setback, Brandon (@greatistbrandon) went shopping for healthy foods to get back on track. Despite having a bad day and feeling tempted to shop emotionally, he went home with lots of fresh produce and more bananas than he knows what to do with (psst: try any of these 31 creative banana recipes).
  • Sore muscles couldn't stop Adrienne and Darby (@greatistdanda). They headed back to Mile High Run Club again for another workout and grabbed a salad full of greens and veggies to refuel.
  • Jasmine (@greatistjasmine) is doing an awesome job at sticking with Whole30. For proof: She made dozens of chocolate-covered strawberries sprinkled with nuts and didn't eat even one. Could that mean her healthy eating habits are here to stay? Only time will tell.
  • Finally, our mentor Jessi Kneeland (@greatistmentor) offered some thoughts on our contestants' recent struggles: "Make sure you don’t feel restricted all day because if you’re constantly using willpower, and then you’re mentally exhausted at the end of the day, that's when your willpower is going to slip up. So make sure you’re really feeding yourself properly and not trying to hold off because it's all going to come crashing back after 7 p.m."
