Evan Rachel Wood’s Reasons to Stay Silent About Rape Are All Too Common

Nearly two in three incidents of sexual assault go unreported. Actress Evan Rachel Wood was one of the people who stayed silent. In a letter to Rolling Stone, the Westworld star offered up an upsetting and all-too-common list of reasons she never talked about being raped before: She didn't want it to be a sob story, she was worried people would say she came forward to get attention, and she thought some people would say what happened to her wasn't really rape.

But "given the state our world is in with its blatant bigotry and sexism," Wood said she couldn't keep quiet any longer. We’ll let her take it from here:
