If you’ve ever tried your hand at Tinder, you know deciding to swipe right or left is a split-second decision—literally, it takes one tenth of a second on average. The good news is it's not all about looks. They do play a part (we tend to pick people who look like us or our previous partners), but scientists found that we also use profile photos to make quick judgments about a person's intelligence and trustworthiness.
