Welcome to GreatistYou, a new social experiment where we see what happens when five people decide to change their health—and broadcast their journeys for everyone to see. Four goals, five contestants, and six weeks to crush said goals for the promise of a better life (oh, and $1,000!).
Week two seemingly ended on a high note, with all our contestants making some progress.
But that all changed when Brandon (@greatistbrandon) returned home from Canada. First a late-night grape binge left him feeling "bloated and disgusting," resulting in The Stomach Slap Heard Round the World.
Then the next morning he found out he had gained some weight back while traveling, which sent him into a deeper spiral. Although he tried to eat really healthy all day, he found himself back at Starbucks splurging on four free samples of pastries. We've all been there, but next time these strategies may come in handy.
Brandon confessed his shortcomings in an attempt to be held accountable for his lack of portion control. But the slip-up led him to realize that we often exhibit bad eating or lifestyle habits because of negative feelings. So he remains steadfast in trying to stay positive and let things roll off his back.
Meanwhile...
- On a more positive note, Jasmine (@greatistjasmine) had a magical moment on the track at the YMCA and realized maybe she does like jogging after all.
- One half of Darby and Adrienne (@greatistdanda) also experienced a running breakthrough at Mile High Run Club and walked away feeling like an athlete again. We like the sound of that!
- Regina (@greatistregina) danced into week three because she made her goal weight last week. Now that's cause for celebration.
- Mentor Jessi Kneeland (@greatistmentor) reminds us all to get moving: "Use your body in new ways to gain a better appreciation and understanding of it. Try new skills and don't forget to include some movement just for fun."
