Someone Updated “Baby It’s Cold Outside," So We're Not Singing About Date Rape

"Baby It's Cold Outside" is a classic Christmas song, but have you ever stopped to actually listen to the lyrics? Here's a quick refresher (the lines sung by the man are in parentheses):

My mother will start to worry (Beautiful, what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar)

So really I'd better scurry (Beautiful, please don't hurry)
But maybe just a half a drink more (Put some records on while I pour)

The neighbors might think (Baby, it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there)

Wait, so he spiked her drink? How did we never notice the line about date rape drugs? Or how the man practically forces himself on the woman?

Thankfully, Lydia Liza and Josiah Lemanski, a singer-songwriter couple from Minneapolis, gave the song a much-needed update that's less pushy and way funnier. Check out a sampling of the lyrics and the full music video below:

My mother will start to worry (Call her so she knows that you’re coming)
Father will be pacing the floor (Better get your car home)

So really I better scurry (Take your time)
Should I use the front or back door? (Which are you pulling for more?)

The neighbors might think (That you’re a real nice girl)
Say, what’s in that drink? (Pomegranate La Croix)
